Ramadan in the Era of Covid-19 (1441/2020)

The spirit of Ramadan and its spiritual fulfillment toward the community comes at a time when it is needed more than ever. The Islamic Center of Nashville (12 South and Bellevue Masjid) will continue to adjust its programs according to the advice of the local authorities. If the circumstance does not change, we will not hold congregational prayers in the masjid. However, we will have different online programs for our brothers and sisters, including our youth.

The following link addresses some specific questions related to Ramadan during our current circumstances. http://fiqhcouncil.org/fatwa-related-to-ramadan-and-eidul-fitr-1441/

Online Programs to be Held During Ramadan (By Sheikh Ossama)

5:00-6:00 p.m. Daily *Maqrah for Brothers

8:45-9:15 p.m. Daily Reflection of the Recitation of the Day

* Maqara means a recitation. During the Maqara, the participants will take turns reciting small portions of the Quran, then follow along and listen to other attendees. In the span of one hour we should complete one Juz and finish the Quran by the end of Ramadan. Not all participants are required to recite; they are welcome to listen and follow along, if they choose to.

Last 10 days of Ramadan:

Special Program 1 Hour before Fajr: This program includes a 5 minutes reminder, followed by people praying Qiamul Layl in their homes for 30 minutes, 5 minutes Dua, 20 minutes Suhour, and then praying Fajr. This program is meant to motivate community members and to instill a sense of collectiveness.

Last day of Ramadan:

Special Dua 45 minutes before Maghrib:  Dua of finishing the Quran together – either through Maqrah or individual reading throughout Ramadan.

Eid Night:

We will have a special informational program on the night of Eid regarding the Eid Programs and Activities.
